Lots going on in Reception

The weeks are flying by and the children in reception are very busy. Thank you for the egg boxes. The children enjoyed making their dragons.

The trip was a great success and thankfully the weather stayed dry. The children had a tour around the castle, the guide Ridieon was excellent and the children enjoyed his talks. We had lunch in a banqueting room and then had the workshop. The story teller was very engaging and the children had a lot of fun, we recorded a story and have listened to it in class.

In PE we have been playing football. Learning how to pass to each other, score goals, dribble with the ball and played a game. We are really enjoying it.

On Friday 21st March for Sport Relief we did the conga around the school and then had a tug of war. It was the boys against the girls. The girls won!

Dressing up day was a great success. The girls looked beautiful in their dresses and the boys looked brave and bold in their knights' costumes. The children told very good stories about themselves and they had to imagine they met a real knight or princess and think of questions to ask them. They also had to design a patterned necklace for a King or Queen. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to the Nursery blog. Our topic this half term is 'Dragon Tales'.

We started the first week back by celebrating St David's Day, we sang lots of Welsh songs                                                    for the whole school and our mums and dads.

We had a story about St David and made a class collage.

We made pancakes and sequenced pictures about how to make them. They tasted yum!

We have been busy creating our role-play area and have had lots of fun playing Kings,Queens, dragons and knights.

We build castles outside and we learnt about different parts of a castle.

We drew our own castles pictures.

We learnt about symmetry and made symmetrical shields.

It was World Book Day on Thursday. We brought in books and shared them.

Lots of fun in Reception

We have had a busy first week back at school. We brought in our home competitions for the Eisteddfod and celebrated the winners and we performed for our parents. We had great fun.

It was pancake day and we learnt all about Shrove Tuesday and we made pancakes and enjoyed eating them with lots of sugar and chocolate spread yum yum!

This term our topic is Dragon Tales and we love playing in our castle and dressing up.

Reception class worked in groups to make a castle out of big blocks or small blocks. Each group had to explain to another group what they had made and name the different parts of their castle, it had to include a drawbridge, keep, bailey and an outer wall.

We had to be imaginative and pretend to be flying dragons and roaring dragons. We wrote down lots of wow words and wrote a description about a dragon. We are listening to lots of stories and poems about dragons and played a great game of knights trying to stop the dragons taking the princesses and lady knights had to stop dragons taking the princes!
