Hooray for Easter

In Reception we have been learning about the Easter Story. We decorated crosses and eggs and hung them on the Willow Tree. We learnt about the Last Supper and had our own little Eucharist service drinking Ribena and eating Hovis white bread. We have made our Easter cards and decorated bunny baskets.

In PE we have been learning skills in rugby. We have been learning how to pass, run with the ball, weave in and out and had a mini game of touch rugby.

To finish off the topic Dragon Tales we held a horse riding tournament to find out who was the fastest knight riding on their trustee steed! The knights had to jump over benches and penalties were incurred if they hit the bench or fell over. Everyone took turns in judging penalties and reading the stopwatch for time. There were three male knights and one female knight who won the tournament with a record breaking time of 12 seconds and no penalties incurred. Da iawn Dosbarth Derbyn.

Happy Easter. Have a lovely break.

Fun times in Nursery

We went on a trip to Cardiff castle. We learnt lots about castles and had a fun time.

We looked at lots of different types of patterns and made our own patterns inside and outside of the classroom.

We learnt about the jobs people did inside a castle. We dressed up as Kings, Queens, knights, Ladies in Waiting and servants. Then acted out being those people.

We designed and made our own castles out of junk materials.

We learnt about the Easter story and acted it out.

Lots going on in Reception

The weeks are flying by and the children in reception are very busy. Thank you for the egg boxes. The children enjoyed making their dragons.

The trip was a great success and thankfully the weather stayed dry. The children had a tour around the castle, the guide Ridieon was excellent and the children enjoyed his talks. We had lunch in a banqueting room and then had the workshop. The story teller was very engaging and the children had a lot of fun, we recorded a story and have listened to it in class.

In PE we have been playing football. Learning how to pass to each other, score goals, dribble with the ball and played a game. We are really enjoying it.

On Friday 21st March for Sport Relief we did the conga around the school and then had a tug of war. It was the boys against the girls. The girls won!

Dressing up day was a great success. The girls looked beautiful in their dresses and the boys looked brave and bold in their knights' costumes. The children told very good stories about themselves and they had to imagine they met a real knight or princess and think of questions to ask them. They also had to design a patterned necklace for a King or Queen. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to the Nursery blog. Our topic this half term is 'Dragon Tales'.

We started the first week back by celebrating St David's Day, we sang lots of Welsh songs                                                    for the whole school and our mums and dads.

We had a story about St David and made a class collage.

We made pancakes and sequenced pictures about how to make them. They tasted yum!

We have been busy creating our role-play area and have had lots of fun playing Kings,Queens, dragons and knights.

We build castles outside and we learnt about different parts of a castle.

We drew our own castles pictures.

We learnt about symmetry and made symmetrical shields.

It was World Book Day on Thursday. We brought in books and shared them.
